Our top choices for events, activities, culture, and fun in the city as we usher in Fall
Summer is coming to a close, but there are still lots of fun things to do around Vancouver! Here are the top picks from the team at Exact Resemblance.
We've included a mix of price-points, including free stuff to do!
#1 - Go to the Fringe Festival
The Fringe Festival is a live theatre festival taking place on Granville Island and the surrounding areas. There are shows on tour from across Canada and around the world, including work from the UK, Japan, and Romania. Tickets start at just $12, and there are tons of free things to do, including live music, street performers, and the Fringe Bar, where you can meet the artists bringing the festival to life, and meet new people in the community. Our show, The Emigrants, is playing at the NEST Theatre (right by the Fringe hub!) September 8-17th!
#2 - Explore Lighthouse Park
This gem of a park is located in West Vancouver, and is known for its Douglas fir trees, rock formations, and yes, its lighthouse. Take the #250 bus towards Horseshoe Bay and get off at Beacon Lane on Marine Drive.
#3 - Richmond Night Market
A total classic! The Richmond Night Market is renowned for its amazing food vendors, featuring cuisine from all around the world. The market also features live events, with dance, music, martial arts and art demos coming up this year. The market run Friday-Sunday until October 9th!
#4 - Consignment Shopping on Main Street
Vancouver's Main Street has some of the best vintage stores in the city. Our favourites include Front and Company, The Barefoot Contessa, Woo Vintage, and F as in Frank. Afterwards, check out Anh and Chi for delicious Vietnamese food, Chef Claire's for a sandwich and salad, and the Fish Counter for their fish & chips or oysters.
#5 - Go to the Vancouver International Film Festival
The Vancouver International Film Festival runs September 28th to October 8th. Some of this year's highlights include Sofia Coppola's Priscilla, The Royal Hotel starring Julia Garner, and Cannes Jury Prize-winner Aki Kaurismäki's Fallen Leaves. Stick around for fun live events, talks, industry meet-ups, and the VIFF Amp: Music in Film Summit.
...And so much more
